Three days in the hills above Mae Hong Son, split between two villages and two households, with the walking done on village roads rather than trails.
What makes it work is that the programme is built around work. Tea, corn, betel nut and market vegetables each have their own season, and a two-day visit during harvest looks nothing like one during the rains.
Evenings are long and unstructured, which is the point. People talk after dark in a highland village more easily than they do at a table in daylight.
